Statement of Faith
We believe in God, who is three-in-one: God, the Father, creator and sustainer of all; His one and only divine Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, whose death on the cross achieved the forgiveness of sin for those who receive and believe in Him, whose bodily resurrection is a sign and hope for our eternal life and whose personal, visible return to earth will bring in His righteous and glorious reign; the person of the Holy Spirit, who is our guide and comforter, indwelling all believers, equipping them with gifts for service and witness. We believe in the necessity of new birth, in salvation by faith in Jesus Christ alone, and in the importance of a life fully committed to the will of God in Christ. We believe in the Holy Scriptures given by God, divinely inspired, unfailing, entirely trustworthy, and the supreme written authority in all matters of faith and conduct. |
What campers say about North Florida CFO camp....
I don't know where to begin. My mom and I had one of the best weeks of our lives. Neither one of us can stop praising the Lord for giving us this opportunity to meet the nicest people I have ever met. I can tell you I have never been surrounded by so much love, caring and concerned children of God. What a week! Singing and dancing while praising Jesus, praying for each other, eating together and sitting with a different group of new friends as much as possible at meal times, little moments like these are what I will cherish forever. And I thank God everyday for leading me to Mary Martha who told us about CFO Camp. Thank you for making Mom and I feel welcome in your CFO family group. Not all religious groups make a new person feel that way. Anyway, just know you haven't seen the last of me. I'm returning next year and I'm planning on bringing my brother and mom if she's is able! I'm a warrior for Jesus now ... and there's no stopping me now! In Jesus name.

Some 50 years ago I heard that "impression without expression leads to depression" and the CFO program avoids that by offering a series of opportunities for expression. I particularly appreciate Creatives and the emphasis on listening, first to God and then to those who share. The leaders in my early days emphasized no evaluative statements like "I am no artist, but ..." We simply thank each person for sharing, so sharing was encouraged.
The emphasis on listening to / for the Lord during morning meditation, creatives, horizontal meditation, and prayer groups is wonderful. Taking time to listen to the Lord and each other is a gift.
North Florida also has a tradition of beginning the day with Holy Eucharist / Communion at 7 AM - not part of the program I realize but I appreciate it very much. The sun rises over Lake Yale at about 7:10 AM (or close to that time depending on the time of the month we meet and the amount of cloud cover), making this a very special moment. In Communion we offer ourselves to the Lord and receive Him into our lives (incarnation involves physical presence) - some people think we need to make that determination at least once a day, so it is a wonderful way to start a day at Camp. (It is one of the things I think about / anticipate as I drive south about 2200 miles.)

For me CFO is a place where we learn to love each other unconditionally. The daily program gives us opportunity to experience the Kingdom of God in ways that otherwise we might not experience. Seeing our CFO family each year seems like we were never apart. Meeting new people and making new friends is a heartwarming experience and I know it is a place where God comes and we are in unity with Him and one another.
Our Council Ring, the camp's leadership team, has been meeting by Zoom Prayer call each week for over nine years. I believe this is one of the reasons this camp has been so special. The last two years camp had to meet as a Zoom retreat, six sessions over three days. It was wonderful and people were blessed.
One of the special experience I have at camp each time we meet is the just being with people who are genuine about their love for Jesus and others. We wear no labels, promote no denominations... just come to be with the Father, Jesus the Son and the Holy Spirit.
